He wasn't in the fire, the wind, or the earthquake, was he?
What you did IS dangerous. During a time of listening God indicated I must call a certain person and confess a lie. And this was prior to being called on staff by this person.
I'ts not dangerous to wait and hear from HIMjust humoring you.
GOD usually speaks through others(their Love, compassion,Kindness)through nature(beauty of HIS creation)through difficulties in life(HE is molding our character to be the reflection of HIS)Ouchie Process I tell ya but Difficulties happens for a very good purpose in GOD"S lingo. But ususally HE talks when you least expect it..for me it is usually when I sleep..I can hear HIS visible voice.
One night I heard HIM calling my name & let me hear my very own prayer (I heard my own voice) asking HIM a question.I'ts like HE played the tape player ...rewind it...let me hear it then HE spoke this is the answer to your question...very clearly visibly heard HIS small voice. Now I know from that beautiful experience that GOD is real ..HE is with everyone of us,knows everything about us through HIS resident Holy Spirit in each one of us.
usually everyday of my life i talk to GOD through prayers and asking Him for guidance and thanking Him in everything i do. sometimes if ever i have troubles keep on bothering on my mind.
I can't see anything wonderful ordangerouse in what you did, unless of course you stopped on a rail road track while you were listening.
Have you considered the reason "God" said nothing to is because "God" is nothing?
Now, I am assuming that you were having some sort of difficulty, and that was why you wanted to hear from "God"; if that were the case wouldn't your time have been spent more productivelly in considering you problem and working out a solution instead of trying to communicte with some mythical being, "God".
I am convinced being at His feet when He has nothing to say is the most best spot in the whole house!
He is looking at you. Ya know my daughter is very pretty (or so I am told!) and her beauty runs around with her, I call her monkey, she is everywhere! But my FAVORITE time with her, is when she is unaware of me. When her mouth isnt running at a 100 miles an hour asking "why?" ad when she doesnt feel she has to preform. She is laying there sleeping, dreaming, breathing. THAT my friend is when I breath her in. Her beauty, her sweetness, the softness of her breathing and skin.
I take in so much, dream so much for her in those moments. So take as many "naps" at the feet of God. Let Him just soak you in, let Him dream over you. All those things we want and need, will come to pass. They will... but I imagine when we get to heaven and actually see Him, we will have wished we just spent a little more time awing Him, being near to Him than we were about ourselves.
Love you, my brother in the Lord. Appreciate your heart and thoughts. They've challenged and encouraged me. Now... go take a little rest at His feet.
Gee.. i'm sorry to hear that God didn't speak to you. Maybe he was ummm..I don't know trying to stop world hunger, end brutality, stop corrupt politicians, or senseless murders. Although I'm sure its sad that you missed an episode of desperate housewives but really...GET OVER IT !!! Or one more option is, that God doesn't exist and you worked things out by yourself , like a big boy should.
I am glad that you felt it important to stop and listen. Many don't. And many lives end up on spiritual rubbish heaps. The peace you received is a good thing. But I want to encourage you to continue stopping and listening (you probably don't need my encouragement).
This whole "hearing the voice of God" thing is a process. I have received many messages from God over the years. And God has led me on many adventures, all over the world. The adventure of hearing His voice and obeying what you hear is the great adventure. And I understand why it seemed a wonderfully dangerous thing -- wonderful because God might actually speak -- and dangerous because God might actually speak. When God shows up, sometimes He brings delight and sometimes He turns everything in our lives upside down. But regardless of what He does, it is always for the purpose of restoration. There is a pretty good book about hearing the voice of God called IS THAT REALLY YOU GOD? You can get it on Amazon for a few bucks. It's a quick read and an exciting, true story.
